A Project in Burkina Faso

In December 2023, we visited Burkina Faso, the homeland of Youssouf, my husband. I stayed in the capital, Ouagadougou, while he continued on alone to his village. It was better that way, as the situation was unsafe. There had been repeated terrorist attacks in the area. However, he made it through without any problems and was able to visit his family. In the village of Souri, he met old acquaintances. It was distressing to see how badly people were doing. They were living without any prospects. Many are trapped in superstition, such as witchcraft, occultism, and dark traditions. Added to this are poverty, lack of education, and many other problems, including terrorism and the Islamization of the population. Many people who were displaced from their villages have come to the area. They have lost all their possessions and are in need of a new future.

The Vision

The goal and mission of the Eliezer project is to lead people out of hopelessness and darkness into a better future filled with hope and light.

In December 2024, we purchased a plot of land in Souri (Dedougou), where we will implement our project. The next step is to fence the 1.2-hectare land, dig for water, and plant useful trees, such as Moringa, Karité, and others. Additional goals include building a church, offering adult literacy programs, and providing school education for children.

We are both excited about our project. To make this a reality, it requires a lot of dedication, practical work, and financial resources. We hope that our vision excites you as well. Not everyone who wants to help has the opportunity to travel to Burkina Faso and lend a hand.

One Piece of Land – Many Possibilities

Of course, children are especially close to our hearts in this project as well. How wonderful it is to see happy, radiant children’s faces that are not marked by hunger and fear. Islamist terror groups attack schools and entire villages. They claim that Western education is sinful and that only the Quran may be taught, not math or languages. Many families are too poor to even afford school attendance for their children.
